I'm moving to Australia in January and I want to buy a digital camera. I have got a clue as to what I want but there are so many brands out there that I was wondering if anyone could tell me about their experience with their digital camera (I can tell from your blogs that a few of you have them!).
Do you like yours?
What make/model is it?
Was it incredibly expensive?
What is your favorite thing that you can do with it? (feature wise)
Thanks

Well, despit the fact that you bought it because it was cute, you actually got a pretty rock solid digital camera. The Elph line are very sound cameras. I personally love Canon's, I'll never own something else (unless someone buys it for me.) I reccomend the Canon SD400, 450, 500 or 550 for your more compact camera needs and the PowerShot S2 IS or G6 if you are more than just a casual photgrapher.
OH! I also recommend the AW-DC30 for underwater photgraphy, but that's neither here nor there.
Thanks for the recommendations. I hope to have a camera that can grow with me you know? Since I will be in a place that is so pretty, I figure I should make an effort to take good pictures.. I seriously considered the G6, but its a touch too expensive...
I have an Olympus C-5000 and I'm happy with it.
But I'm not a camera snob.
No. You're just a plain old snob.
Ubie, I know you aren't a snob!
You just frighten nick by how well you can read him....
Just becasue I prefer Canon Digital Cameras and Macintosh Computers does not make me a camera and/or computer snob. It makes me a technophile at best and a mere dork at worst.
I know what you mean nick, I'm kind of a technophile myself, except ipods... hate those fuckers
I got a rio mp3 player from woot. best $30 ever, has a stopwatch, FM tuner and I can make my playlists for when I jog
And Lo, she forsook the name of the one true and pure, Lord, iPod. And there was a great rumbling, and the streets and roads purged the folk on them and a great hole opened from below and many plagues were released unto the world.
I love my iPod more than I love my parents and all my friends. Once bitten, forever smitten.
its not so much that I hate ipods, I hate spoiled 12-17 year olds running around with them... INTERACT WITH PEOLPLE DAMNIT
