All Along the Watchtower..
So most of us had today off, to observe our countless men and women currently serving, or veterans of various wars.
They deserve nothing but our respect, no matter what we think of the president that dragged them into the current war.

Some chose to use this day to get ahead in school work (like myself)
Others took this day as an opportunity to get the family together, and bond.

I woke up this morning, had my coffee and I was walking upstairs to start my day, noticed something odd.
Two white Mini-vans parking on the side of the road, not near any house, all dressed in their Sunday best.
I thought through the obvious things.
A gathering for a funeral,
Some type of party perhaps?
But then I noticed something.
Binders.
And bibles
In their hands.
And they weren't parked in front of any particular house.
I did what any good girl, called into Paul Revere like action.
I warned the household.
"JEHOVAH'S ARE COMING!!"

We took our positions. In hiding. Hoping they would go away, after our two cocker spaniels barked their heads off.

15 minutes passed, and then they rang the door bell. My mother in her fearless glory decided to walk up the stairs, so they could see that we were home, but not about to answer the door.

Now the last time they showed up, we had no warning. An older woman was at our door, coming to preach to us about Jesus.
Now she was easy to dismiss, since she looked like she found Jesus the day before, under the trucker she had just blown for a five spot and a pack of Lucky's.

But today, they were kids.
I would rather have them feel the cold dismissive nature of my unopening door then anything my brother or I could say.

One time they showed up and he yelled out at the top of his lungs "WE FOUND JESUS YESTERDAY, HE WAS UNDER THE COUCH"

So to any Jehovah's out there, let me part with this, going out there and preaching door to door is one thing, but sending your teenage daughters to ANYONES door, unaccompanied is just
plain
stupid.

My dad is a veteran, and I am unbelievably proud of him.

My parents' neighbor is a devout Catholic, and she worsips at a local monestary. Yep, we have those in NJ. In any case, she keeps a whole assortment of literature from her church handy, just in case the Jehovas come to call. When they do, she doesn't let them get a word in edgewise. She witnesses to them, gives them Catholic literature and a little Catholic Bible, then sends them on their merry way. It cracks me up every time. The look so dumbfounded when they leave her house!

I have a friend who is a JW so I'm really offended by this post. No I'm not. But I DO have a JW friend.

I would like to tell the next one who comes to my door that Satan doesn't like it when I read the Watchtower. But I never have the nerve to do it with a straight face, so I hide as well.

i told the last jahovahs witness that came to my door that i was athiest. what a HUGE mistake that was, he wanted to know why and if there was i reason why i had let go and i told him that my uncle was an archbishop in st.paul and that he supported the preists that molested hundreds of little kids in the 90's. nuff reason for me.

They are all over Australia, so be prepared. They used to come to our door all the time. My flatmates were mostly guys, and they loved when the JW's would come by. Usually they would answer the door naked, at times they would ask them for money, once in a while they would give them porn. Aussie boys are so entertaining.

Just say, "No talking 'til you do a shot of whiskey with me!"

I very much believe in the freedom of religion, and that people should be able to believe what they believe in peace.
I also feel that anyone that truly believes in their religion doesn't need to talk about it. It's something private, and those that need to go on and on about it, and make you feel like you are missing out over it, probably don't get it.

Showing up at my house and trying to convert me is imposing on my freedom.

I helped an Aussie JW at work the other day. Really nice guy. And let me say this, if I was gay I would have been all up in his business.
