ch-ch-changes....
When I was leaving for Australia I felt very lucky that while I was leaving my family and everything I knew, I would still have my friends on blogger to make me feel at home.

I never thought of how much the time difference and lack of constant internet would change everything. I show up late for all the interesting conversations and recent blog drama has made me feel more separated then ever.

I've managed to make a few good friends here and my latest wave of homesickness has passed, but I can't help but feel out of place, especially here.

I miss my brother... this week he was learning a poem in English class called "the tale of the ancient mariner" and he remembered it was redone as an Iron Maiden and yelled out "Hey I know this song!" making the entire class laugh at him. I think he should have started singing.

Sorry to hear you are feeling (or have been feeling) a little blue. The hours may be different but I look for your words every day. I am sure your friends do too.

Sorry you feel sad and lonely! I am certain that you will make new friends very soon. It will just take some time. Meanwhile, enjoy the alone time with your beau. :)

Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner?

Water, Water everywhere
But not a drop to drink.

If you like, I can create some blog drama for you in real time.

How's 8 p.m. my time sound?

I look forward to reading your posts, no matter what time it is. And from someone who has lived the better part of her adult life on the road, I will tell you that it does get easier. By the time it's time to leave Australia, you'll feel like you're leaving home. Of course, it will be bittersweet, because you'll be going home, too. It's a very strange feeling.

Just connect with your surroundings as if there isn't an escape clause...as if you don't know you're going back to North America at some point. Become invested in your life there. You'll still get homesick, but you won't feel like you're out of place as much.

Hope you're feeling a tad better.

If you post a reply to Ubie regarding what time would be appropriate for blog drama I'll totally participate.
